Classroom Expectations and School Wide Procedures

BIOLOGY CLASSROOM EXPECTATIONS

1. Be on time and ready to learn (see school-wide procedures for a definition of on time).
2. Respect yourself, others, and their property.
3. Be responsible for your actions.
4. Ask for help when you need it.
5. Follow all laboratory and classroom safety procedures.

SCHOOL WIDE PROCEDURES

The following are the school wide procedures for LCHS. These will be strictly adhered to in Biology class.

Classroom Expectations: Expectations for the classroom are to be posted on the wall. School wide expectations are: RESPECT, RESPONSIBILITY, AND RESTRAINT

Timeliness: Before the tardy bell rings, all students are to be in their assigned seats with class materials ready (paper, pencil, etc.) and working on bell work.

Seating Charts: Students will have assigned seats, determined by teacher, each class period.

Bellwork: In each class, the teacher will have a bell assignment posted on the board or overhead projector. Students will begin working on the bell assignment before the tardy bell rings.

Class Objectives: Learning targets for each class period will be posted in "I can" statements on the board.

Hall Passes: Hall passes will only be issued in the case of an emergency. In this situation, after gaining permission from the teacher, students are to sign out on the teacher's log sheet an use the official hall pass.

Paper Heading: When turning in assignments, students are to write their first name, last name, course date, and label of assignment in the upper right hand corner of the paper.

Absence: A folder designated for absences will be available for students as well as a folder for students to leave completed make-up work. It is the student's responsibility to get this work. School policy states that the students have 3 calendar days to complete and turn in make-up work for an excused absence. This also applied for work missed due to missing class for other activities.

NOTE: MISSED HANDOUTS FROM THIS CLASS WILL BE PLACED IN YOUR FOLDERS. NOTES AND BELLWORK WILL BE AVAILABLE IN DIGITAL FORMAT ON THE BLOG BY DATE.

Substitute Teachers: Students are to follow these procedures when a substitute is present.

Bullying: Bullying is a criminal offense in teh state of Kentucky. Any student who experiences or witnesses bullying should report it to an adult immediately and follow up with the adult if the bullying does not stop.

Instructional Time: Instructional time is defined as the time designated for class periods or contact time to be in session.

Cell Phones/Eletronic Devices: Cell phones and electronic devices may be used responsibly during non-instructional time,, i.e. before school, during class change, your personal designated lunch period, and after school.
